napoleon dynamite

Napoleon Dynamite. A familiar name to just about every American citizen. Many of you realize that just by seeing that movie once, a person's vocabulary has taken a major turn for the worst, adding phrases such as "Flippin Idiot!" "Sweet!" "You bodaggit!" You get the picture, and if you have seen the movie, I'm sure you can think of many more phrases. Some people are so consumed by the movie that they say other phrases in the Napoleon Dynamite voice which makes you sound completely stupid. Here is something that happened to me at good ol' Wal-Mart just last night. But before I tell you, here is some background information. I babysat for the Broberg's and Amber came over to drop off her thank-you card, so she just offered to bring me home, so before she brought me home, we went to Wal-Mart. We did our stuff at Wal-Mart, and I had this major craving for Mountain Dew. Amber got her purchases and I rushed to the vending machines.. I put in my dollar and pushed the big button with a clear photo of a 20 oz. bottle of Mountain Dew. Sold out?! NOOOOOOOOOO! I then pushed the next Mountain Dew button that I saw out of the corner of my eye. "Thank you, now dispensing." Diet?! NOOOOOOOOOO! Amber was also going to get a soda, but she offered to take the diet, since that is what she preferred over regular, and she gave me a $1.50 to buy it in the store (it's cheaper in the store than in the vending machines, HA!) I grab a Mountain Dew and rush to the nearest open aisle. The man scans the bottle and I give him the $1.50. Now, the conversation:

Guy: Umm, that'll be $1.26
Me (as I hand him the money): There you go.
Guy: Thanks. He now pushes the change button, and the screen says that I would get $1.24 in change. Sweet!
Me: Sweet! I get $1.24 back in change? Sweet!
Guy: No, sorry, I made a typo.
Me: Crap!
Guy: You've been watching Napoleon Dynamite, haven't you?
Me (while walking away): Nooooo...
Guy: Yes you have. I can tell by the pattern in your voice. Don't even TRY and lie to me!
Me: Ohh, SNAP! (ok, maybe this final line didn't occur, but it certainly would've been a riot if I had done so)

So, the moral of the story? This world would be so much better off without Napoleon Dynamite. But Kip on the other hand...

an entry from my journal - dated March 27, 2005

I've basically given up on that "Tim" kid. I don't know why I even bother liking someone if they don't like me back (gag.. "John Doe"), I'm too young anyways. I mean, do boys really matter to me? NO!!! Sure, I can have guy friends that I can hang around with and we'll think nothing of it, and thats the way it should be. I'll have crushes, sure, but it son't be like too serious, not something along the lines of "He IS my one true love!!' When the time is right for me to meet the one that God is to put me with, I'll know. Besides, why try going out with guys if you know that they aren't the one specifically for you? to take a fling? to feed those hungers within you? Uh-uh, girlfirend! Sorry, but God will take care of those hungers for me (and you too). I should really focus on school and God anyways and my relationships with friends anyways. I don't need boys to mess with my mind and play games with my heart.

*Some names edited.. Obviously

song of week : what if his people prayed by casting crowns

What If His People Prayed
by Casting Crowns

What if the armies of the Lord
Picked up and dusted off their swords
Vowed to set the captives free
And not let satan have one more

What if the church, for heaven's sake
Finally stepped up to the plate
Took a stand upon God's promise
And stormed hell's rusty gates

Chorus:
What if His people prayed
And all who bare His name
Would humbly seek His face
And Turn from their own way

And what would happen if we prayed
For those raised up to lead the way
Then maybe kids in school could pray
And unborn children see light of day

What if the life that we pursue
Came from a hunger for the truth
What if the family turned to Jesus
Stopped asking Oprah what to do

He said that they would hear
His promise has been made
He'll answer loud and clear
If only we would pray

If My people called by My name
If they'll humble themselves and pray
If My people called by My name
If they'll humble themselves and pray

I just don't understand how people don't understand that there is a God. How else could we have gotten here? A tiny speck of nothing somehow turned into a human? No, there is no way of explaining that. Well, here's just a little song making fun of evolution:

Once I was a tadpole, my tail long and thin,
Then I was a bullfrog with my tail tucked in.
Then I was a monkey, swinging from tree to tree.
Now, I'm a professor at the university!

That just opens my eyes to how our world is today. We were put here for a reason, to make God's Kingdom on Earth! The theory of evolution just shows us what those people believe, and we have to change their minds, with God's help.

Saran wrap, anyone?

I don't think some people realize how sensative I really am. I mean, someone can just give me one weird look and I'll start going crazy because I think that they're mad at me or something. I don't rush around going "Are you mad at me?" every two seconds, but it does make me wonder. I really don't like being so sensative because when my friends are having problems at home or whatever and they're upset and stuff, I get upset and then I get depressed. I just don't understand.

a pic from paris night... last year

.

song of the week (in case i forget) : We Live by Superchic[k]

Artist: Superchick
Album: Beauty From Pain
Song: We Live

There's a cross on the side of the road
Where a mother lost a son
How could she know that the morning he left
Would be their last time she'd trade with him for a little more time
So she could say she loved him one more time
And hold him tight
But with life we never know

When we're coming up to the end of the road
So what do we do then
With tragedy around the bend?

Chorus:
We live we love
We forgive and never give up
Cuz the days we are given are gifts from above
Today we remember to live and to love
We live we love
We forgive and never give up
Cuz the days we are given are gifts from above
Today we remember to live and to love

There is a man who waits for the tests
To see if the cancer has spread yet
And now he asks, "So why did I wait to live till it was time to die?"
If I could have the time back how I'd live
Life is such a gift
So how does the story end?
Well this is your story and it all depends
So don't let it become true
Get out and do what we are meant to do

Chorus

Waking up to another dark morning
People are mourning
The weather in life outside is storming
But what would it take for the clouds to break
For us to realize each day is a gift somehow, someway
So get our heads up out of the darkness
And spark this new mindset and start to live life cuz it ain't gone yet
And tragedy is a reminder to take off the blinders
And wake up and live the life we're supposed to take up
Moving forward with all our heads up cuz life is worth living

Chorus (to fade)

That's right, get out there and do what we were meant to do!

new old template

Well, I made a promise to my sister.. If I help her touch-up and repaint her plaid car, she will "paint" me a new template. So, it's a deal then.

Well, I have a band meeting tonite, to discuss what songs we will be doing for a benefit concert this winter, along with some of the other bands in out school such as NO PARKING ANYTIME! We have a 15 minute time slot, and I believe we are going to be doing some worship songs, along with some Relient K, Superchic[k] and maybe Hawk Nelson.. It'll be schweet!

Well, I hope you all are having a wonderful week!

new template

Hey, I got a new template, as you can see. My sidebar has appeared to have disappeared, but it hasn't.. It's way down at the bottom of the page, so if you possibly know how to get it back at the top where it belongs, please speak up.

innocence

Hey ya'll.. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I just haven't had much time to come after school the past few weeks, and now that school is done I can't just prance over to the library like I could before. But, I'm here now.

As I sit here in this computer lab at the Hibbing Public Library, I am surrounded by at least four kids, all on the same website. They're rushing around running to each other's computer's asking what level they're on and whispering secrets. I'm not exactly sure of the website, but I'm sure they enjoy it. -sigh- Disney, Nickelodeon, Neopets.. I miss those innocent days as a wee(er) one.. Completely unaware of their surroundings, not caring what other people think, totally clueless of their future or what will happen at the end of the world.. And yet, some grown ones hardly share differences..

This makes me want to preach the gospel even more than I did before. They don't know what can and will happen and they'd better be safe than sorry. (Sorry about that, that last sentance can sound rude if you don't think of it right, I apologize.)

So, now that you have more time than you did before this summer, get out with your non-Christian friends and hang out, and preach the gospel! Some Christians look at me like I have a mask because I hang out with non-Christians and som Christians who aren't doing too well, but I'm doing it to be a good example to them and be a good friend, so I hope you understand that and I also hope that you don't look at me differently.

Note: Oh, and sorry if none of that made sense, it all makes sense in my head, but when I put it down it just doesn't seem to turn out the way I had hoped.

song of (past few) week(s) :

Into the West
performed by Annie Lennox

Lay Down

Your sweet and weary head
Night is falling
You have come to journey's end

Sleep now
Dream-of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across a distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away.

Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

What can you see?
On the horizon.
Why do the white gulls call?

Across the sea
A pale moon rises.
The ships have come
To carry you home.

And all will turn to silver glass.
A light on the water
All souls pass.

Hope fades
Into the world of night.
Through shadows falling,
Out of memory and time.

Don't say
We have come now to the end.
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again.

And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping.

What can you see?
On the horizon.
Why do the white gulls call?

Across the sea
A pale moon rises.
The ships have come
To carry you home.

And all will turn to silver glass.
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the west.

I've just been listening to this song alot lately.. I used to not like it very much but now I do. If you want to hear it, it's the last track on the Lord of the Rings : Return of the King Soundtrack or it's on the movie The Return of the King.
