CATCF

Well, kids, two fridays ago (the 15th) I went and saw CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY with Molly Flynn and Steven Zubich. We were suppossed to meet up with the Pearson's, and while we were waiting for them I just said "Eh, they'll find us, I don't want to miss any of the movie." So right as we were walking in the theatre, the Warner Brothers symbol was popping up on the screen.. I squealed and got a few weird looks and we found the closest seats nearest the middle. We watched the movie and in the section the the left and just a few rows ahead, were the Pearson's, Mary C., and RONI! They said they saw us come in but they didn't want to distract anyone. On Sunday I went swimming with Jennie and her parents and we went to go see it once again with Natalie, Brittany, Jennie, Jason, Craig, Amber, and Little Brian and I laughed just as hard as the first time. [insert new post about camp here] We get home from camp on Friday and saw CATCF once again on Saturday in Grand Rapids with our friend Ian from Rapids, Amber, Sydney, Jessica, Jennie, and I (we invited Jason and Ryan, too, but they just decided to stay outside because they were late).. Wow, that was a strange day. If you don't know why, I guess you never will then.

So, if you haven't seen the movie and you're thinking "Oh, it's gonna be stupid. All the remakes are stupid. Who cares if it has Johnny Depp in it.." Go see it and find out.. Most people like this better than the original.. You know I do. It goes along with the book more than the other and hey, JOHNNY DEPP! What's better than that, man?
So, post what you thought of it here or any other random thoughts!

Yes, I have changed the title of my blog, I personally thought the other was rather corny and I just.. I'm not completely satisfied with this blog! If you see any changes, don't pay attention. I'm just experimenting to find something that I am satisfied with, so don't freak out. It may only be temporary.

Well, I've been pondering for quite sometime on something to post about, but I really can't think of one that I haven't already done or that someone else has done, so I think I'll just do a song of the week and get done with it. I won't be posting at all next week (Monday through Friday), and I probably won't have a new post until the following Monday (the 25th???) because I will be at CAMP! Alright, in celebration of the new blog title, I will do the song of which it was inspired.

Dare To Be Stupid
by Weird Al Yankovic

Put down that chainsaw and listen to me
It's time for us to join in the fight
It's time to let your babies grow up to be cowboys
It's time to let the bedbugs bite

You better put all your eggs in one basket
You better count your chickens before they hatch
You better sell some wine before it's time
You better find yourself an itch to scratch

You better squeeze all the Charmin you can while Mr. Wipple's not around
Stick your head in the microwave and get yourself a tan

Talk with your mouth full
Bite the hand that feeds you
Bite off more than you chew
What can you do
Dare to be stupid

Take some wooden nickles
Look for Mr. Goodbar
Get your mojo working now
I'll show you how
You can dare to be stupid

You can turn the other cheek
You can just give up the ship
You can eat a bunch of sushi then forget to leave a tip

Dare to be stupid
Come on and dare to be stupid
It's so easy to do
Dare to be stupid
We're all waiting for you
Let's go

It's time to make a mountain out of a molehill
So can I have a volunteer
There's no more time for crying over spilled milk
Now it's time for crying in your beer

Settle down, raise a family, join the PTA
Buy some sensible shoes and a Chevrolet
And party 'till you're broke and they drive you away
It's OK, you can dare to be stupid

It's like spitting on a fish
It's like barking up a tree
It's like I said you gotta buy one if you wanna get one free

Dare to be stupid (yes)
Why don't you dare to be stupid
It's so easy to do
Dare to be stupid
We're all waiting for you
Dare to be stupid

Burn your candle at both ends
Look a gift horse in the mouth
Mashed potatos can be your friends

You can be a coffee achiever
You can sit around the house and watch Leave It To Beaver
The future's up to you
So what you gonna do

Dare to be stupid
Dare to be stupid
What did I say
Dare to be stupid
Tell me, what did I say
Dare to be stupid
It's alright
Dare to be stupid
We can be stupid alright
Dare to be stupid
Come on, join the crowd
Dare to be stupid
Shout it out loud
Dare to be stupid
I can't hear you
Dare to be stupid
OK, I can hear you now
Dare to be stupid
Let's go, Dare to be stupid
Dare to be stupid
Dare to be stupid
Dare to be stupid
Dare to be stupid
Dare to be stupid
Dare to be stupid
Dare to be stupid

change in the linkage column

I am going to change something in my links.. Instead of putting the title of the blog, I'm going to put the name (or nickname) of the person who owns the blog so it is easier for all of you who come to this blog as a reference to everyone else's blog. Just so you know. But, I may keep some the same if their name is included in it.. You can figure out what I mean.

Yes, I did change my display name from "what's her face" to "the devine one" and I also changed my display picture from half-evil/hot Anikin (I don't know how to spell his name. So sue me!) with yellow eyes and hooded cloak to animated still hot Anikin battling the not-so hot Obi! w00t! To the right, 'tis a bit stretched out, but if you see me comment, it will appear it's normal size (at it's best, might I add).
I thought you would like to know, so when you see someone with "the devine one" as their name and the picture to the right as their avatar, you won't think "WHO THE CRAP IS THAT?!" You will know that it is your good ol' buddy.

So, yesterday was summer survivor. The scores revealed that Blue Cross Blue Shield (my team) is ahead once again according to the points.. Leading with 106,920 with the Red Rebels following in 2nd place with around 96k and The Dead Presidents close behind them with around 94k.. It's a close call. But, ever since yesterday I have this strange feeling that we are no longer ahead. That game was killer! We all had those belts on--used for flag football--with two flags on each. Each team had a garbage can, a bucket of water balloons, a banner, a water gun, and some random flag that hardly anyone payed attention to because it disappeared so quickly. Each person had to run around the field trying to grab as many flags as possible. The one holding the banner had to set it down if they got out. This is where the pain begins: So, Alyssa was holding the banner and I was "guarding" her.. Jason and J come up and one of them (I'm not sure which) grabs both of Alyssa's flags, which means she has to put the banner down. It didn't exactly get a chance to touch the ground, I grabbed it then J and Jason grabbed it too.. We're all fighting over it and somehow Jason grabs J's flags and the banner. I was stupid and went chasing after him (I think I wanted to grab the banner from him hoping to get it back, but that's against the rules so I couldn't have anways) and somehow we both ended up on the ground and nothing after that is really clear. I was too focused on getting that banner. When we were on the ground, I grabbed the stick that the banner is on and Jason is holding the other end, then I just hear this big rip (I ripped the banner off the stick, I think). About 5 seconds later, I'm crouched on the ground gasping for hair because I got the wind knocked out of me and from my sternum down to the bottom of my right rib cage up to my shoulder, had this excruciating pain. My ribs were a achin' and the only way it wouldn't hurt while I was standing was if I didn't suck my stomach in, if I didn't take deep breaths, and if I held my arm in an awkward position, as if I was in the middle of a deep conversation.

Just so you know.

YAY FOR RUN ON SENTANCES AND SPELLING ERRORS!

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other." Galatians 5:22-25

Patience. Something that many of us do not have and those few of us who do have it sometimes lose it. If you know me, which most of you do since you are at this here blog, you know that I am definitely NOT a patient person at most times, and I get frustrated very, VERY, VERY easily. Just last Sunday I was "playing" tennis with a few good friends and I just could not seem to hit the ball. If the ball was coming at me, I panicked and quickly swung the racquet I was using and, as a result, the ball went flying 40 feet into the air way over to the left. I kept doing that (unintentionally, of course) and quickly got frustrated. I just decided not to play and watch the others actually hit the ball back and forth.. Tennis is a game that you need a lot of patience in.. I must learn to not get so frustrated at stupid things and make my patience level a bit higher.

WANTED:
Someone who plays tennis and knows enough about it to teach someone else
Must have patience

disgusting news brief

"Gay Pride in Effect" dated Thursday, June 30 at 1:00 PM PT (Pacific Timing)

Buzz comes out! Gay marriage, gay pride, and a new gay cable channel inspire some searchers to venture out of the closet.

What a week for the marrying kind. On Tuesday, Canada's House of Commons voted to legalize marriage between same-sex partners. If the bill passes, Canada will become the fourth nation to recognize marriage between two people of the same sex. Yesterday our northern neighbor would have come in at number three, but -- just this morning -- Spain astonished many by passing its own gay marriage law. "Gay marriage" (+6%) was up slightly in Search yesterday, and we'll be watching to see if Spain's move sparks more interest throughout the week. As for the U.S. -- San Francisco and L.A. lead the nation in gay marriage searches, but the Dallas/Fort Worth metro ranks third in the number of people looking up same-sex unions online.

It was also quite a week for the partying kind, especially those prone to fabulous feather headdresses. Tens of thousands took to the streets on Sunday to celebrate the 35th anniversary of gay pride and to mark the Stonewall riots. "Gay pride" gathered in numbers at the Search box throughout the month, culminating in a 41% jump last weekend. Unsurprisingly, San Francisco led the way in searches on the pride festivities, followed by Chicago, New York City, Atlanta, and Seattle.

With the spectacles' confetti and glitter still littering the streets, many marchers will settle in tonight, cosmos in hand, to watch MTV's latest venture. The entertainment behemoth launches the gay cable channel Logo today. The debut makes history -- Logo is the first channel to specifically target a lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender audience. They couldn't have picked a better week for it.

*Thanks to JacKarate for this article. I posted so everyone could know what's going on. Keep on praying, guys. There WILL be a revival.*

song of the week : be my escape

"Be My Escape" by Relient K

I’ve given up on giving up slowly
I’m blending in so you won’t even know me
Apart from this whole world that shares my fate
This one last bullet you mention
It’s my one last shot at redemption
Cause I know to live you must give your life away

And I’ve been housing all this doubt and insecurity
And I’ve been locked inside that house
All the while you hold the key
And I’ve been dying to get out
And that might be the death of me
And even though there’s no way of knowing
Where to goI promise I’m going because…

I gotta get out of here
I’m stuck inside this rut that
I fell into by mistake
I gotta get out of here
And I’m begging you, I’m begging you, I’m begging you to be my escape

I’ve given up on doing this alone now
Guess I failed and I’m ready to shown now
You told me the way and now I’m trying to get there
And this life sentence that I’m serving
I admit that I’m every bit deserving
But the beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair

Cause I’ve been housing all this doubtand insecurity
And I’ve been locked inside that house
All the while you hold the key
And I’ve been dying to get out
And that might be the death of me
And even though there’s no way of knowing
Where to go
I promise I’m going because…

I gotta get out of here
Cause I’m afraid that this complacency is something I can’t shake (yeah)
I gotta get out of here
And I’m begging you, I’m begging you, I’m begging you to be my escape

I am a hostage to my own humanity
Self-detained and forced to live in this mess I’ve made
And all I’m asking is for you to do what you can with me
But I can’t ask you to give what you already gave.

Cause I’ve been housing all this doubt and insecurity
And I’ve been locked inside that house
All the while you hold the key
And I’ve been dying to get out
That might be the death of me
And even though there’s no way of knowing
Where to go
I promise I’m going because…

I gotta get out of here
I’m stuck inside this rut that I fell into by mistake
I gotta get out of here
And I’m begging you, I’m begging you, I’m begging you to be my escape

I fought you for so long
I should have let you in
Oh how we regret those things we do
And all I was trying to do was save my own skin (oh)
But so were you
So were you

This song is an inspiration to me because this basically describes me.. It encourages me to drop my insecurity and raise my self-esteem by following God and doing what he tells me and going down the right path.. Which reminds me of Proverbs 3:5,6 "Trust in the LORD with all you heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will keep you paths straight." Just a little encouragement for the day.. Keep following Jesus and He WILL keep you paths straight if you trust Him.
